Nutrition and Physical Degeneration
by West A. Price

I read a bit about Weston A. Price here for an annotated bibliography.

He is dentist who made the connection of his generations increase of cavities to diet by the newly introduced processed foods of the time.

With much help from his wife Florence, he documented peoples teeth all over the world, specifically peoples who’s diet had not been influenced by modern changes with sugar and refined flour.

They traveled to all the continents from Inuits to Polynesia.

In my research I was able to make connections to his results through peer reviewed articles. Artiles like from Cambridge World History Food which discussed how rare cavities were throughout the Paleolithic Period.

His studies have inspired a modern generation as well

If you type in his name and it will be most connected to the Weston Price Foundation

During this study I also discovered the difference between Westin A Price’s studies and what is now the Weston A Price foundation.

While the foundation does cite a traditional whole foods diet, I realized doing this project I found no information on the high levels of exercise these traditional people were doing that Price covers in his book.

During my readings of his book he talks about finding many things in common with people that follow their traditional foods instead of the new processed foods being introduced at that time.

Which is generally what his book is a bout in a nut shell

One of the main things he talks about is his how active all these peoples were.

The Gaelish “...hardy fisherwoman often toil from six in the morning to ten at night.”

On the Weston Price Foundation website there is really no information on the importance of being active. Especially because their website supports full fat dairy and stresses eating red meat and basing this all on Price’s book. Our ancestors lives and the lives Price documented tended to use up a lot of calories on the daily. Considering our modernized way of life and how stationary our daily lives tend to sit or be I felt that it was a pretty big discrepancy. Especially for what Price researched to how its being interpreted. I don’t see a huge stress for how important moving you body is on the Weston Price Foundation website, yet the website stresses being liberal with butter and other animal fats.Debunking or sort of finding the misinformation is a big part of being a degreed nutritionist. Especially when I had thought the foundation was so aligned with Price’s research. I'm glad to have discovered this all as well
